Trojan Family,
because of your generous donations even during these hard times, we were able to award Senior Daniel Omar Hernandez, Class of 2009, a $750 scholarship. Daniel will be attending UCSD in the Fall Quarter pursuing a degree in Biology. Daniel's goal is to find himself attending UCLA in their School of Medicine. His passion started when he participated in a "School-to-Health Career Mentoring Program" at Scripps Hospital. Not to mention, he has over 369 volunteer hours in the community! During his time at CP, Daniel was involved in sports and a rigorous AP & IB Program with a successful 4.16 GPA. Daniel understands what it means to appreciate the opportunity to continue his education on a higher level. He spent the first 14 years of his life living in Mexico. His family was able to make a move to Chula Vista in 2004 to start a new life. So it begins for Daniel an experience in college life in the "real world" as we alumni call it, an experience that we know Daniel will make the best of. Congrats Daniel from the alumni of Castle Park.

Once a Trojan, Always a Trojan.

Hello there. I just thought that you could help get the word out to all former band members that there IS an alumni band that is being pieced together. It is for ALL former CPH band members. It is fine if they haven't played for years as we will all work together to get 'our chops' back.
Former CPH Band Director Del Bangle is on board for the project.

We've had a few BBQ's and meetings so far and there is increasing interest. The present CPH Principle showed up at the BBQ this past weekend and he's onboard for this too! It's been a while and some have forgotten the power and the strength of the Trojan Band - we haven't!
And we are going to remind the community!

All former band members as well has drill team, tall flag and letterette members are encouraged to check out the MySpace page for the Alumni Band and come out when we have a 'get-together'; even if it's just to "hang-out" and not be directly involved.

For more information, they should contact Steve Cresencia at the Alumni Band MySpace page:

A message from CA-Moore Class of 1983

I went to Homecoming this evening and have to admit that I haven't been back
to CPH in years. It was disappointing that there were hardly any Alumni
there and seems that a lot of old Trojan nostalgia and traditions are lost.

My husband, Rusty Moore, and I are from the class of 1983. This last
summer, Rusty brought back something that was once lost and sadly not nearly
missed by the current Faculty and Student Body at Castle Park . . .our
Trojan display case that was located outside the gymnasium. It had been
removed and many of the items in it had been lost, stolen and or
misplaced. He put alot of time, thought and TLC in redesigning and
bringing back that old display case. Some items were found, some had to be
replaced and some things were added.

I'm including a picture of it and thought it might be nice to share with our
other Trojan Alumni. Hopefully, one day we can bring back and enjoy that
ol' Trojan spirit that was once there.

Regards,
--
CA-Moore

Loss of a Great Educator
Mike Swift

A memorial honoring Mr. Swift took place at his father's namesake, Swift Stadium, at the campus of CPHS on April 10, 2005. Mr. Swift passed away on March 20, 2005. He was 58 Years Young.

My memories of Mr. Swift were plenty and funny. He allowed me to readthe daily bulletin at the start of 4th period...He was fun and a fair teacher.
I had Mr. Swift at CP Junior High as well...He will be missed.
